Ego and confidence are two sides of the same coin of life. If you flip that coin enough times, the results will usually balance out equally. But some people only flip the coin once, and you can always tell when their lives land on the ego side.
Those people are loud and brash and draw so much attention to themselves. Many people are entertained, others are annoyed, and a few others find a way to completely ignore the noise. Ego doesn’t preclude great results, but it can complicate how those results are viewed.
On the other side of the coin, confidence is often quiet, generating results that speak for themselves. Smart people are attracted to those results over the long run because they know the difference between big talk and big results.
It doesn’t hurt to flip the coin enough times to guide your life so that you have an optimal mix of ego and confidence.
Just be sure loud efforts don’t come at the expense of quiet results, and you’ll find the coin you used will multiply in your favor many times over.
