When you knowingly fudge, fabricate, exaggerate, hide facts, offer up outlandish alternatives, parrot false propaganda, or tell a whopper in any situation…you're not telling half-truths, you’re lying.
Call it what you will, but you leave yourself open to criticism when you aren’t straight and forthcoming with all the facts in any situation. Worse, your trustworthiness will take a hit if you’re exposed, and your pants may actually burst on fire.
There are better ways to persuade others by stating facts, using logic, and demonstrating outcomes based on likely scenarios.
Many will argue that how you reveal information is a grey area requiring finesse and salesmanship. But when you practice deception, the truth is a casualty that’s as obvious as the difference between black and white.
